Lubricants

Lubricants

Lubricant is not a product for when something goes wrong. Natural lubrication varies throughout the cycle, with stress, fatigue, medication and age, and this variation is normal. Using lubricant simply eliminates friction that does not contribute anything, and that is why it makes sense to have it on hand even if there is no problem.

Lubricants | Water-Based | Anal Lubricants | Lubes & Essentials

Which one to choose depending on the situation

Situation Recommended base Reason
Daily use with toys Water Silicone Compatible
Long session Silicone or hybrid Does not evaporate
Shower or bathtub Silicone The water does not drag it
Anal play Thick water or silicone More body and duration
With condom Water or silicone Oil degrades latex
Sensitive skin Unscented water Less irritation

Spotty dryness and persistent dryness

They are different things and are resolved differently. Occasional dryness, that of a specific day, is resolved with lubricant and without further considerations.

Persistent dryness, on the other hand, has to do with the mucosa and not with the moment. There, a vaginal moisturizer for regular use acts in the longer term, and if it coincides with menopause, breastfeeding, a hormonal contraceptive or medical treatment, it is worth discussing it with a health professional instead of chaining products.

Aromas, flavors and effects

Lubricants with a heating or cooling effect use active ingredients such as menthol or capsaicin and are more likely to irritate. It is advisable to test them first on the forearm and not use them if the skin is reactive.

The flavored ones are designed for oral sex and many contain sugars, so they are not the best option for prolonged intravaginal use. You have them in Flavoured Lubricants, and the sensation ones in Warming & Cooling Lubricants.

Common errors

Using too little is the most common, and produces just the friction you were trying to avoid. The second is to apply only to one area, when distributing it between both contact surfaces works much better.

The third is to use products that are not lubricants: hand creams, Vaseline, cooking oil or saliva. None are formulated for the mucosa, several degrade latex and Vaseline is difficult to remove and promotes infections.

Formats and conservation

The single doses are convenient for travel and for trying new formulas without buying a whole bottle. Push-button dispensers are the most hygienic for frequent use because there is no contact with the contents.

Store the container closed, in a cool place without direct light, and respect the date indicated after opening. Exclusive sale for people over 18 years of age.

Discreet shipping from Lace & Luna

Orders arrive in plain, unbranded packaging, with no reference to the contents on the outside, and the bank charge is just as discreet. Details are at embalaje discreto. We are a family store and we usually suggest starting with a small water-based format.

How much to use and when to reapply

More than what is usually put. An amount the size of a walnut for vaginal use and much more for anal use, distributed between the area and the toy or condom. It is the variable that produces the most difference and the one that receives the least attention.

With water-based formulas, when the slip begins to fail, there is no need to add more product: a few drops of water reactivate what has already been applied. With silicone ones, reapplication is rarely necessary because they do not evaporate.

Common errors

Use oil or Vaseline with latex condoms, which degrade in minutes. Use silicone lube with silicone toys, which are permanently sticky. And resort to saliva, which does not lubricate for more than a few seconds and is not formulated for mucosa.

The fourth, less obvious mistake is interpreting persistent dryness as a lubricant problem. When the dryness remains outside the meetings, or appears with pain, a medical consultation is useful; Lubricant improves comfort but does not solve the cause.

And the fifth: store the open bottle in the bathroom, where steam and temperature changes accelerate the degradation of any formula.

Formats and conservation

The bottle with a dispenser is the most practical and the one that contaminates the least; The tube makes better use of the content and single doses are the sensible option for travel or to try a new formula.

They are all stored closed, in a cool place without direct light, and used within the period indicated on the label after opening them. The bathroom, with its steam and temperature changes, is the worst possible place even if it is the most comfortable.

Frequently asked questions

Does using lube mean something is wrong?

No. Natural lubrication varies with cycle, stress or fatigue, and lubricant simply eliminates unnecessary friction.

Does Vaseline or hand cream work?

No. They are not formulated for the mucosa, they degrade the latex in several cases and the Vaseline is difficult to remove.

What lubricant do I use with a condom?

Water-based or silicone-based. Any formula with oil degrades the latex and increases the risk of breakage.

Do hot or cold ones irritate?

They can do it on sensitive skin. It is advisable to test a small amount on the forearm before using them on delicate areas.

What if the dryness is constant?

Then a regularly used vaginal moisturizer fits better, and it is worth consulting with a health professional if it persists.
