What to look for in the formula

Without alcohol, without perfume and without dyes, it is the combination that causes the least problems. Alcohol dries out silicone and TPE with repeated use, and perfume is mainly responsible for irritation in the area.

A pH close to that of the skin prevents discomfort if any remains remain. And if the product declares antibacterial action, better with an indicated contact time, because disinfecting is not just wiping with a cloth and rinsing the second.

When it is necessary and when it is not

For silicone, ABS, glass or steel toys, warm water and neutral soap are perfect for everyday use. The specific cleaner provides comfort, quick drying and a formula designed to leave no residue.

Where it does become important is in porous materials such as TPE, in shared toys and in motorized parts that cannot be submerged. There a spray allows you to clean without wetting the electronics.

The routine that avoids problems

Clean before and after each use, not just after. Dust in the drawer and traces of old lubricant are reason enough to rinse first.

Changing the toy or changing areas of the body means cleaning in between, or using a condom on the toy, especially when moving from the anal to the vaginal area. And if you share it with another person, that rule is non-negotiable.

Drying and storing

Dry with a clean, lint-free or air-dried cloth, and make sure the crevices and suction cup bases are dry on the inside, because this is where moisture accumulates.

The spray is the most practical for everyday use: you apply it, let it sit for a few seconds and rinse it off. Foam covers embossed surfaces better and wipes solve when there is no access to a tap, although they are not a substitute for a complete wash.

Renovating powders are not cleaners: they are applied after drying on TPE parts to restore the dry feel. They are complementary products and it is advisable to have both if porous materials are used.
